5 Best Red Dots With Deltapoint Pro Footprint

Since the first red dot in the 1900s, it is evident that red dot sights have truly revolutionized the world of optics. Among the variety of red dot footprints available, the DeltaPoint Pro footprint stands out. There are a lot of optics that use this footprint. Deciding which one is perfect for your firearm can, therefore, be a daunting task. After all, you want a quality Deltapoint Pro optic that will elevate your shooting experience, not compromise it. This article aims to help you do just that, so sit back and enjoy the read!

What Is The Deltapoint Pro Footprint?

The Deltapoint Pro footprint refers to the specific pattern and configuration of the mounting screws and interface that allow the red dot sight to attach to a firearm or adapter plate. The size of this mounting standard is similar to Shield RMSc but is longer in length.

Originating from Leupold’s Deltapoint Pro sight, this footprint has become a standard in the industry, admired for its compact size and robustness, which is why so many companies prefer this footprint for their optics.

The Sig SAUER Romeo has truly redefined my enjoyment of Deltapoint Pro-compatible red dot sights. This sight is crafted from aircraft-grade aluminum, promising durability and a sleek design.

One of its standout features is the TruHold Lockless Zeroing System, ensuring you maintain accuracy even after firing repeated rounds. The sight also has an impressive water-resistance rating of IPX-7, allowing it to endure various environments.

Moreover, its battery life is commendable at 20,000 hours, thanks to the motion-activated system featured on the sight. While it doesn’t compare to the Holosun’s impressive 50,000 hours, you’ll seldom reach 20,000 hours.

SIG Romeo 1

You can either opt for the 3 or 6 MOA red dot, both of which have 12 brightness settings (10 daytime, 2 night vision compatible). Personally, I prefer the 3 MOA sight – it just offers better versatility for both close-range and long-range shots. Plus, with the clear aspheric lens, you can easily shoot up to 100 yards.

The SIG SAUER Romeo 1 Red Dot Sight has a unique footprint that fits on the Deltapoint Pro and, therefore, doesn’t require red dot sight plates.

At $559.99, it is more expensive than some of the other popular red dot sights on this list, but the pure performance and quality of the scope justify it.

EOTech has long been a pivotal player in the red dot sight arena, crafting quality and durable red dot sights. This sight is specially designed to meet the rigorous standards demanded by serious shooters. It also comes with either a 3 or 6 MOA red dot. Again, I prefer the 3 MOA, but the 6 MOA is great for self-defense.

The EOTech’s durable aluminum construction promises longevity, even with regular use. It operates on a CR2032 battery, ensuring consistent and prolonged usage of the 8 brightness settings.

Eotech EFLX

My favorite feature of this red dot sight is its large rectangular window, providing me with a superior field of view. The EFLX has the same footprint as the Delta Point Pro, so there is no need for an adapter plate. For the budget-conscious readers out there, at $389, this red dot sight won’t break the bank and is worth every penny, given its premium performance.

The Holosun HS507K is innovative in its design and functionality. What sets it apart is the ACSS Vulcan Dot Reticle, which substantially aids in swift target acquisition. The 3 MOA center dot is encircled by a 230 MOA outer circle, which guides you back to the main dot, putting less strain on your eyes.

The HS507K is also available as a green dot sight, making it a favorite choice for those struggling with Astigmatism. Made from 7075-T6 aluminum, this sight is both incredibly lightweight and robust. It has a staggering battery life of 50,000 hours on medium settings can be expected when you buy this sight.

It has 12 brightness settings, perfect for tackling any ambient lighting scenario. Furthermore, its parallax-free design guarantees a clear field of view. Similar to the EFLX, the HS507K has the same mounting standard as the Shield RMSc and the Delta Point Pro. Overall, at $349.99, the HS507K offers great value.

The Holosun Carry Enclosed Pistol Sight is a small tube sight wonder designed especially for concealed carry firearms. Every aspect of its design speaks to precision, from the 1.5 MOA adjustment click to the bright 6 MOA red dot.

This sight is also made from 7075-T6 aluminum and promises to withstand daily wear and tear. Similar to the HS507K, the Carry EPS’s CR1620 also has a battery life of 50,000 hours. Moreover, its 8 brightness settings offer flexibility to users, ensuring the best visibility in varying conditions.

The standout feature of this sight has to be its low deck height, allowing you to use the optic with a standard-height front and rear sight combination. It features the K footprint mounting surface and would, therefore, require Delta Point-to-K footprint adapter plates. At $405.87, it costs a bit more than the HS507K, which is why it’s ranked at number four and not three.

At number 5, we have one of my favorite micro red dot sights – the pinnacle of micro small tube sights. Targeted toward everyday carry, the Swampfox Sentinel is compact yet powerful. It’s designed to slimline pistol slides, distinguishing itself from other red dot sights with its construction – a durable 7075 Aluminum body and crystal clear multi-coated glass.

I’m a huge fan of the Sentinel’s photosensitive sensor, which automatically adjusts the brightness of the dot based on your environment. The Sentinel comes with my favorite dot size – 3 MOA – which ensures quick targeting and accurate long-range shots. Its 10 brightness settings further enhance its usability.

The Sentinel also uses the Shield RMSc/ Deltapoint footprint, so there is no need to mill new screw holes. At $229 and given its robust features, the Sentinel offers tremendous value for its price.

What Factors Make A Good Deltapoint Pro Footprint Optic?

Similar to what I discussed when I compared the Deltapoint Pro and RMR, a few factors determine the quality of a Deltapoint Pro footprint optic. The first of which is durability. You have to be comfortable exposing your optic to the elements. I don’t necessarily mean dumping it underwater to see if it survives, but it has to be able to withstand recoil and the rough-and-tumble nature of field use.

Next, a good Deltapoint Pro optic should also have versatility in its brightness settings. There should be multiple brightness settings, helping ensure the dot remains visible regardless of the ambient light. Battery life is also an important factor to consider.

It should have at least 20,000 hours of battery life before it can be considered “good.” After all, a prolonged battery life means less frequent replacement and more time focusing on shooting.

The optic must have a crisp and clear view, as it aids in faster target acquisition and better accuracy. Finally, the optic must be priced reasonably and within range of its competition, regardless of whether it’s a different type of red dot footprint.

What Are The Other Types Of Red Dot Footprints?

Red dot footprint mounting compatibility is always something to consider before buying an optic. After all, if the optic doesn’t fit, it is as good as useless. Other than the Deltapoint Pro footprint, there are several other footprints, such as:

  • Trijicon RMR
  • Vortex Razor
  • Doctor/Noblex
  • Shield RMS
  • Aimpoint Micro

Each has its unique set of dimensions and screw configurations. The choice of footprint comes down to the specific application, personal preference, firearm compatibility, and versatility of the footprint.

Are Red Dots With Deltapoint Pro Footprint More Versatile Than Other Red Dot Sight Footprints?

Much like RMSc footprint optics, Deltapoint Pro Footprint optics are immensely popular. Its compact design and robust mounting system make it a favorite for many handgun and rifle users. But I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s more versatile than other red dot sights. This is because each footprint offers its own set of advantages. For instance, the RMR is better if you prefer an optic with more ruggedness in extreme conditions.
