The Trijicon RMR Type 2 is one of my favorite red dot optics and is also the best red dot for the Glock 19 MOS. Its versatility extends beyond the shooting range, catering to law enforcement, the military, and the hunter.

I love its compact design, making it easy to maneuver and handle. It has an objective window size of 0.83 x 0.63 in and weighs just 1.2 ounces. Furthermore, the durable aluminum housing and smart “bat-ear” design ensure the electronics and lens are protected against the elements.

Trijicon RMR Type 2

Regarding adjustability, the RMR is top-notch. With eight brightness settings, you can use this 3.25 MOA red dot optic in any lighting condition. Its CR2032 battery has a long battery life – 4 years, to be precise. You’ll need an adapter plate to mount this red dot because the RMR Type 2 utilizes the RMR footprint.

Though the RMR Type 2 is priced at the higher end ($731), its premium features and renowned durability make it a worthy investment as your next pistol red dot sight.

The SRO is another wildly popular Trijicon red dot. In comparison, this red dot is specifically tailored for competitive shooting and tactical use. It has an objective window size of 25 x 22.5 mm, offering me a wider field of view than the RMR.

It is also pretty robust, thanks to the 7075-T6 aluminum housing, but I think the RMR wins the durability section because of its smart design. The SRO also has eight brightness settings but features one super-bright and two night vision compatible settings, adding to its versatility. I find the super bright setting especially helpful at high lux hours, such as noon.

Trijicon SRO

There are three models available – a 1 MOA, 2.5 MOA, and 5 MOA dot – though I prefer the 2.5 MOA dot size, offering the perfect blend of short-range and long-range performance. This is one of the reasons I rated the SRO as one of my 5 Best Glock RMR Sights as well. The SRO’s CR2032 is rated to last three years, but I had to replace mine after 1.5 years (probably because I use the super bright setting too much).

The SRO also utilizes the RMR footprint, so again, you’ll need an adapter plate for the Glock 19 MOS. Overall, the SRO offers a lot of features, but at $771, I would rather go with the RMR Type 2 – it looks better anyways.

Holosun is one of my favorite micro red dots brands. They always make quality red dot sights with immense value. The Holosun 507c x2 is a true testament to the company’s pledge to quality.

Versatility is its core strength, making it ideal for close to medium-range engagements. Its design, with an objective window size of 0.63 x 0.91 inches, strikes a fine balance between compactness and a sufficient window size.

Furthermore, it has 10 daylight and 2 night vision-compatible brightness settings. Its standout feature for me is the multiple reticle system (MRS), allowing you to seamlessly toggle between a 2 MOA dot, 32 MOA circle, or a 2 x 32 MOA dot and circle – catering to every shooting situation.

The Holosun’s CR1632 battery is rated to last 50,000 hours, though, despite the built-in solar panel, I was able to get roughly 24,000 hours out of my sight. The Holosun also uses the RMR footprint. At $364.69, the Holosun is definitely our best-value buy on this list, given its plethora of features and high performance.

Leupold, with their range of hunting optics, binoculars, and monoculars, has always resonated with premium quality. The DeltaPoint Pro is their flagship red dot, boasting incredible durability and a crisp viewing experience.

This 2.5 MOA red dot sight is a favorite among hunters, myself included, thanks to its wide objective window size of 25.7 x 17.5mm, offering a wide field of view. The DeltaPoint Pro has 10 brightness settings, two of which are night vision compatible.

One thing about this red dot that stands out for me is its optical clarity. Thanks to Leupold’s smart lens coatings and high-quality lens materials, the DeltaPoint Pro has a viewing experience unmatched by the other pistol red dot sights on this list.

Its CR2032 battery is rated to last a dismal 300 – 1,600 hours. Luckily, it features motion sensor technology; otherwise, the battery life could’ve been even shorter. The DeltaPoint Pro has its own unique footprint, which is a slight variant of the Shield RMS footprint, so you’ll need an adapter plate for it to fit on your Glock 19 MOS.

Overall, the DeltaPoint Pro is priced at $549.99. While this might seem expensive, you know you are buying a premium, reliable red dot that can last you a lifetime.

Vortex has made a lot of pistol red dots, ranging from the Viper to the Venom. This company knows how to make premium products at very affordable prices. This leads me to our budget-friendly pick of this list, the Vortex Venom.

The Venom is a versatile red dot, offering long-term durability. It is available in either a 3 MOA or 6 MOA dot size, the former better for medium-range engagements and the latter for self-defense and close-range shooting. This is also one of the reasons why I rated the Venom as one of the 5 Best Taurus G2C Red Dot Sights I tested as well!

This sight boasts 10 brightness settings, featuring a manual and auto-adjusting mode. It has a battery life of up to 30,000 hours, although I had to replace mine around 17,000 hours. The Venom utilizes the Docter/Noblex mounting standard, so you’ll need an appropriate adapter plate for the Glock 19 MOS.

The Venom will set you back $349.99. Although it is the cheapest on this list, I would maybe consider spending a little more and getting the feature-rich Holosun instead.

What Factors Should Be Considered Before Buying New Glock 19 MOS Red Dot Sight?

Factors like durability, battery life, size and weight, reticle size, and mounting system should be considered before buying a new Glock 19 MOS red dot sight.

Durability is important as it ensures a reliable aiming platform, regardless of the environmental conditions. Battery life is crucial, as it contributes to the user-friendliness of the optic. The longer the battery life, the less you need to replace it.

Reticle size depends on your use case – a smaller dot is better for longer range (hunting, competitive shooting), while a larger dot is better for self-defense. Lastly, size and weight always play an important role when deciding to buy a new optic. You want a lightweight yet durable optic. Also, you want a compact optic but still one that provides a generous field of view.

Which Factor Is Most Important For A Concealed Carry Gun Optic?

Size and weight are the most important factors for a concealed carry gun optic. Compact optics, such as red dots for Glock 43x, must be lightweight and extremely compact. If it is too big, it will feel cumbersome and uncomfortable when carried concealed.

What Is The Price Range For High-Quality Glock 19 MOS Optics?

The price range for high-quality Glock 19 MOS optics range between $350 to $800. It all depends on your use case and budget.

If you have a big budget, optics like the Trijicon RMR and SRO, with a cost of $730, seem reasonable. However, if you are on a tight budget, then it’s best to get a red dot pistol that won’t break the bank.

Do Budget Red Dot Sights Perform Well?

Budget red dot sights perform well if you buy from a reputable brand. The best budget-friendly red dot pistol sights come from brands like Vortex, Holosun, Shield, and Swampfox. Just make sure you always buy from a trustworthy source, as there are a lot of fakes and pirated products out there.

Which Is The Best Budget Friendly Glock 19 MOS Red Dot Sight?

The best budget-friendly Glock 19 MOS red dot sight is the Holosun 507c x2. While the Vortex Venom is the cheapest, the Holosun offers better value for only $15 more. However, deciding between these two should come down to your own preference, but either way, you will be left satisfied.

Are Glock 19 MOS Red Dots Easy To Mount?

Glock 19 MOS red dots are easy to mount. However, mounting ease is still determined by red dot footprint compatibility. If your red dot’s footprint is incompatible with your Glock 19 MOS’s optic cut, it can be difficult to mount, and you’ll require adapter plates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can red dot sights enhance accuracy in self-defense situations?

Red dot sights are very useful for enhancing accuracy in self-defense situations. They provide a more effective aiming point, allowing quicker target acquisition and better shot accuracy.

Are lower 1/3 co-witness or absolute co-witness mounts better for a Glock 19 MOS?

If you still want to use your iron sights, the absolute co-witness is better for Glock 19 MOS, while the 1/3 provides a clearer view of your red dot. So, the choice boils down to your personal preference.

The Bottom Line

The Glock 19 MOS provides a versatile platform for mounting red dot sights, enhancing your shooting capabilities. From the Venom to the RMR, whether you’re on a budget or looking to invest in a high-end sight, there’s an option out there for every shooter. Ultimately, choosing the right sight depends on your personal preferences and intended use. Remember, practice is essential, and with the right red dot sight, the Glock 19 MOS becomes an even more formidable tool.
